Al Fara’a bags six Stevie awards to raise UAE total to 24

Al Fara’a Group won six Stevie Awards at the 9th Annual International Business Awards ceremony held at the Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi.

Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi, UAE Minister for Foreign Trade, gave away the awards.

Nicknamed the Stevies from the Greek word “crowned,” the International Business Awards were created to honour and generate public recognition on the achievements and positive contributions of organisations and business people worldwide.

The UAE walked away with over 24 awards in various categories in this year’s competition which also honoured first-time winners Bahrain, Peru, Saudi Arabia, and Slovakia.

Al Fara’a won seven Stevie honors in 2010. The repeat wins in 2011 are an endorsement of the culture of excellence that runs deep through every facet of this highly respected business institution.

Adel Saleh, president and executive chairman of Al Fara’a Group said, “Winning the Stevies once again this year is an endorsement of effectiveness of the world-class processes that we have adopted and is a motivation for all of us to continue our quest for excellence.”

Dr JR Gangaramani, president and executive chairman of the Al Fara’a Group, a winner of the 2011 Stevie Distinguished Honouree for the category of Chairman of the Year, which he also won in 2010, thanking the award jury said, “We are once again deeply honored to receive the valuable accolades conferred on us by the International Business Awards. The recognition at this premier platform is a testament to our strong and undying commitment to world-class competitiveness and corporate social responsibility. May these honours extend and resonate upon the hearts of every member of the Al Fara’a family as we work hand in hand for the growth and continued success of our Group and 
the community.”

Joining Dr. Gangaramani in 2011’s league of Distinguished Honorees is Dr. Mohammed Shehadeh, senior vice president of Unibeton Ready Mix, a subsidiary of the Al Fara’a Group who received the Executive of the Year award. Two associate sectors within the Al Fara’a Group were Unibeton’s Quality and Excellence Team in the category of Support Team of the Year, and Al Fara’a’s Production and Supply Chain in the category of Support Department of the Year.

The International Business Awards also recognises the Group’s exemplary environmental and social advocacies. Al Fara’a’s keen initiative to finding and harnessing green and sustainable concrete solutions through innovations received acclaim as a Distinguished Honoree, for the category of Most Innovative Company of the Year in the Middle East and Africa.

Al Fara’a ‘s CSI initiatives were applauded with the Group’s CSI arm, the Al Fara’a Foundation being named, The Corporate Social Responsibility Programme of the Year in the Middle East and Africa for its vigorous dedication to being the most effective and sustainable corporate social investment provider in the UAE.
